2007 Teams
Wey Hi
This rag tag fugitive squad of ultimate renegades is the closest thing we have to a home team. This dual town squad from Weymouth and Hingham packs a punch with a potent mix of college cast-offs, Troop 2 All-Stars and recent parolees. Led by Fred "email was invented only for Ultimate" Boudreau. Wey-Hi comes to the table with speed, discipline, and a devotion to open cup zones and competitive Guinness Gunning. Watch for their sideline antics and some creative game time wear.
MonkeyLOVE
MonkeyLOVE is a concept -- a constantly evolving, never-practicing collective of passionate, competitive players who respond to seductive emails to gather for fun tourney's with other vagabonds from all over. We won the beautiful Hingham trophy in 2006 (as well as 2005 and 2004). This year's squad has 12 returning members, and we've loaded up with ringers from all over the northeast to try to bring it home again!
Chinstrap
Why are we called Chinstrap? This is a good question. Some have speculated that it is in order to keep our helmets on; however, this argument is quickly discredited when one considers that we do not wear helmets to play ultimate. Others have claimed that it is because we wear our beards in the style of a Chinstrap, a-la David Ortiz. While such a style is fashionable and members of our team have been know to wear it, this answer breaks down, because a little less than half our team is genetically incapable of growing beards. A third argument is that we are named after the Chinstrap penguin. That is just silly. The true answer is in fact lost in a haze of smoke and time. Never-the-less, Chinstrap has become a philosophy and a state-of mind for safe, hard-played, spirited ultimate. Chinstrap was for many years a fun summer team. Over the past three years the team has solidified into a regular unit and has been one of the leaders in taking coed to legitimacy in the northeast. This year we return a core of veterans and new players with experience at the highest levels of club coed, club women's, club open, and college ultimate.
WMD
"Even though many think they don't exist, they never searched in Massachusetts."
JUST BUDA
JUST BUDA is the youth mixed team that will be representing BUDA at the Youth Club Championships on August 11th and 12th in Blaine, MN. Comprised of 20 players from 12 high schools spanning 4 states, JUST BUDA is looking to improve upon last year's 3rd place YCC finish. The team was formed in the beginning of June and has spent the summer playing in several tournaments (BI, OMK) in preparation for the YCCs. The whole team is looking forward to a fantastic time in their first (or many!) appearances at the Hingham Invite.
MUFF
MUFF was established in 2003 for a high school tournament. It was created by Jon Rice, Brendan Marble and Justin Frost who are still on the team. In the past 4 years Team MUFF has grown by adding the players who have taught them the game of ultimate and have recently began their quest to win a national club title.
Die Stockschwuelen Pinken Panther
Die Stockschwuelen Pinken Panther are Hingham's favorite Austrians back for another fantastic weekend of hucks, laughs, and lay-out points.
